FEMA reported President Biden approved emergency declaration for Florida to supplement efforts due to emergency resulting from Hurricane Milton beginning Oct. 5.
Overview
Authorized FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief efforts to alleviate the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population and to save lives.
Also to protect property, public health/safety, to lessen or avert threat of catastrophe.
Emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, will be provided at 75% federal funding as will direct federal assistance in listed counties in order.
Oct. 8, 2024 FEMA Seminole Tribe Assistance
On Oct. 8, 2024, FEMA announced White House emergency disaster relief funding for Seminole tribe in Florida to supplement response to Milton whose impact continues.
Authorizes FEMA to coordinate relief, direct federal assistance at 75% federal funding.
Oct. 12, 2024 FEMA Federal Assistance
On Oct. 12, 2024, FEMA reported President approved disaster declaration for Florida.
Noted that federal disaster assistance is available to Florida to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Milton from Oct. 5, 2024, and continuing.
Oct. 17, 2024 SBA Hurricane Assistance
On Oct. 17, 2024, SBA reported disaster assistance is available for Florida businesses and residents affected by Hurricane Milton, Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Debby.
SBA offers economic injury disaster loans (EIDLs) to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster for small businesses and small agricultural cooperatives.
Followed by announcement that funds for disaster loan program have been expended.
No new loans can be issued until Congress appropriates additional funding to program.
Applicants should submit applications for review in anticipation of future funding.
Survivors impacted by Hurricanes Helene, Debby should submit separate applications.
The filing deadline for physical property damage applications is Dec. 10, 2024.
In addition, the deadline to return economic injury applications is Jul. 11, 2025.
Oct. 17, 2024 FEMA Flood Renewal Extension
On Oct. 17, 2024, FEMA stated National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policyholders in Florida have additional time to renew their flood insurance policy by Dec. 10, 2024.
Nov. 30 to Dec. 10 extension is eligible to Florida insured affected by Hurricane Milton.

Nov. 8, 2024 SBA, FEMA Aid
On Nov. 8, 2024, SBA made loans available to certain non-critical private nonprofits of Seminole Tribe; On Nov. 7, made loans available to Seminole businesses, residents.
Deadline for physical damage loans is Jan. 6, 2025; for EIDLs, it is Aug. 5, 2025.
On Nov. 6, 2024, SBA reported low-interest, economic injury loans available to private nonprofits (PNPs) in designated FLA counties affected by Milton Oct. 5-Nov. 2, 2024.
Submit physical damage applications by Dec. 16; EIDL applications by Jul. 16, 2025.

On Nov. 5, 2024, FEMA reported president approved supplemental aid to individual in Seminole Tribe to cover grants for housing, home repairs, uninsured property, others.
Funding is also available to Seminole Tribe and certain private nonprofits on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of damaged facilities.
On the same day, FEMA also approvedDirect Temporary Housing Assistance, which may be provided to eligible applicants to meet their temporary housing needs.
Relief includes multi-Family lease and repair, direct lease and fabricated dwellings.
Applicants do not need to apply, they will be notified by FEMA of their eligibility.
