Key Bill Provisions
Revise employer definition to mean any person, firm, business, educational institution, corporation, LLC or other entity that employs 25 or more; prior law required 50 staff.
For succeeding years after 2025, number of staff reduces to 11 (2026) and 1 (2027).
Exempts employers in multiemployer health plans with collective bargaining contracts.
Require paid sick leave to accrue employee's first day at a rate of 1 hour per each 30 hours worked; prior, law required 40 hours worked per 1 hour of leave accrued.
Said rate is the minimum; employer may set a faster rate than required by State law.
Sets ancillary provisions on treatment of overtime, internal HR transfers, acquisition or merger, use of leave for family care and restrictions on verifying illness to obtain leave.
