NOR GVT issued consultation on proposed registration of/gambling limits for bingo.
Wants players to identify themselves in order to play, and all games to be registered.
Primarily to prevent and limit gambling problems, and provide better opportunity to comply with the money laundering regulations for those who offer bingo games.
Amendments to regulation 1978 reflect the high number of bingo problem gamblers.
Almost 200 bingo halls in Norway but unlike comparable gambling games from Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto, there are no limits on how much can be lost at bingo.
NOR GVT proposes NOK 900 daily & NOK 4,400 monthly limit as per Belago machines.
Also aims to aid compliance with money laundering regulations by games providers.
Registered Bets
Under the amendments, registered bets on electronic games would be introduced in bingo halls from Jan. 1, 2025, giving providers a view of player cashflow and activity.
Registration could help address gambling issues as players would identify themselves.
Is a prerequisite to measures such as loss limits and potential exclusion from games.
Registration would be as simple as possible and not too expensive for the industry.
The hearing is open to all, including those who are not on the list of hearing bodies.
