CAL LEG Governor Newsom secured Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) from FEMA to ensure the availability of vital resources to suppress Boyles Fire in Lake Co.
Boyles Fire ignited in Clearlake, threatening thousands of homes, forcing evacuations.
Relief Provided
The FMAG, which is provided through the President’s Disaster Relief Fund on a cost-share basis, will assist local, State and tribal agencies responding to the fire.
Funding provides for 75-percent reimbursement of eligible fire suppression costs.

Sep. 2024 CAL LEG Governor Declares Emergency
On Sep. 29, 2024, Governor Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency in Lake County to support Boyle Fire recovery effort by communities impacted by Sep. 8-11 fire.
Proclamation facilitates unemployment benefits for impacted residents, waives fees to replace documents, expedites debris removal and cleanup of hazardous waste.

Oct. 2024 SBA Disaster Assistance Available
On Oct. 8, 2024, SBA made disaster loans available to California businesses and residents impacted by the Boyles Fire that occurred on Sep. 8 through Sep. 11.
For small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofits, SBA offered Economic injury disaster loans (EIDLs).
The EIDLs are intended to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.
The deadline to apply for damage loans is Dec. 6, 2024; for EIDLs is Jul. 7, 2025.
