UAE MOHRE issued reminder of Dec. 31, 2024 deadline for the requirement for private sector companies employing 20 to 49 workers to hire at least one Emirati citizen.
Follows decision to expand Emiratisation to require companies (including information and communication, finance/insurance, real estate) to hire one UAE citizen in 2025.
Follows, UAE MOHRE Jun. 2024 confirmed private sector companies employing 50 or more workers to meet their H1 Emiratisation targets by Jun. 30, 2024, see #191357.
Expanded Emiratisation
Resolution 455 of 2023 concerning the process for implementing the Emiratisation targets for private sector establishments that employ between 20 and 49 employees in selected economic activities expanded the companies to those set out in the table.
Those that do not meet 2024 targets must pay financial contributions of AED 96k in Jan. 2025, contributions for failure to meet 2025 targets are AED108k in Jan. 2026.

Nov. 2024 Updates
On Nov. 19, 2024, UAE MOHRE reminded the private sector establishments that are subject to Emiratisation policies to meet their 2024 targets by the end of Dec. 2024.
Non-compliant establishments will pay financial contributions starting Jan. 1 2025.
Apply to establishments with 50 or more workers, who are required to ensure a 2% increase in the number of Emirati employees in skilled positions by the end of the year.
Cover establishments employing 20 to 49 workers across 14 listed economic activities.
More than 117,000 Emiratis are now working across 22,000 private-sector companies.
