  • SWI GVT informed that benefits of employer charitable funds have been expanded.
  • Main Points
  • On Jun. 14, 2024, the Federal Assembly adopted an amendment to the Civil Code.
  • It implemented parliamentary initiative 19.456 Benefits paid for prevention purposes are an important task of charitable employer foundations; adding para 4 to art 89a.
  • In the future, employer pension funds with discretionary benefits will be able to pay benefits regardless of a situation of distress, to prevent the financial risks of illness.
  • As well of accidents, disability and unemployment not covered by social insurance.
  • Possibility to pay benefits for new situations, e.g. training and continuing education.
  • Reconciliation of family and professional life, prevention of health for insured staff and their relatives, contribution to the financing of other employees' pension institutions.

  • The amendment to the Civil Code will enter into force on Jan. 1, 2025.
