DEL LEG passed HB 15 passed to amend DEL INS 18 to require all individual, blanket, group health insurance policies to cover annual screening for ovarian cancer.
Bill Provisions
Amended DEL INS 18-33-I-3338 to require screening and treatment of ovarian cancer.
Excludes policies of accident-only, specified disease, hospital indemnity, Medicare supplement, long-term care, and other limited benefit health insurance policies.
High-deductible plans are excluded if providing coverage would cause the plan to fail to be treated as a high deductible health plan under the Internal Revenue Code.
Catastrophic health plan if providing coverage would cause the plan to fail to be treated as a catastrophic plan under Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Defines at risk for ovarian cancer as including close relatives have had it, certain other cancers, testing positive for certain genetic mutations, have had certain conditions.
Also defines other relevant terms including cost-sharing requirement, monitoring tests and screening tests for purposes of providing coverage under given policies.
