Bill Provisions
Health insurers must make payments directly to nonparticipating or non-preferred providers of ambulance services or jointly to both the provider and the insured.
Required that the insurer provide reimbursement for ambulance services at a rate negotiated with provider; in the absence of agreed rates, must pay at ususal charge.
Direct payments apply to ambulance transfers of patients between hospitals/facilities.
