Main Points
Implementation of the agreement of BEL GVT on pension reform re several issues.
Title 2 provides for the reform of the minimum pension in the schemes for employees (ch 1), civil servants (ch 2), the self-employed (ch 3) re effective working conditions.
It also provides for an increase in minimum pension for certain part-time workers.
Title 3 provides for the introduction of the pension bonus, i.e. a supplement to the pension for those working after having fulfilled the conditions for early retirement.
Or after have reached the legal pension age; title 4 makes modifications concerning the financing of the Solidarity Pension Fund for provincial and local administrations.
Title 5 modifies the provisions relating to the equalization of retirement and survivor’s pensions public sector workers; titre 6 increases the rate of the Wijninckx contribution.
Effectiveness
Adopted bill was submitted for royal assent; different titles apply on different dates.
May 2024 Pension Reform Law (1) Published
On May 16, 2024, BEL GVT published Pension reform law (1) on the minimum pension guaranteed in scheme for salaried workers, relating to various retirement provisions.
Chapter 1 relates to retirement and survivor's pension of both employed and all the self-employed workers eligible, with specific reference to survivors pensions payable.
It also includes reference to the calculations for specific events, such as child care provision, as well as the basis for the full-time equivalent days as actually worked.
Chapter 2 relates to the general principles of social security for salaried workers and the payment of a special contribution equal to 6%, concerning the minimum pension.
This law on minimum guaranteed pensions in relation to Chapter 1 of the text will now come in force on Jan. 1, 2025, although terms of Chapter 2 are in force Jan. 1, 2028.
