Key Bill Provisions
Define deepfake as video, audio, or media of an identifiable person digitally altered to appear to be someone else or appear to say or to do something he/she had not done.
To create, distribute or present deepfake for the purpose to harass, embarrass, entrap, defame, extort, or for other forms of financial or reputational harm is a class B felony.
If the person in the deepfake is arrested based on the content of the deepfake, the creator is liable for the arrested's legal, defense costs; this is a separate class B felony.
