RI LEG passed Bill S 2255 (H 7625) re accident, sickness insurance for HIV infection.
Insurance Coverage for HIV
Bill repealed Rhode Island General Laws provisions RI INS 27-18-92, RI INS 27-19-84, RI INS 27-41-97, and RI INS 27-20-80 to remove expedited prior authorization.
Amended RI General Laws RI INS 27-18-91, RI INS 27-19-83, RI INS 27-20-79, RI INS 27-41-96, for insurer to provide access to HIV pre-exposure/post-exposure drugs.
Insurer would provide access to at least one pre-exposure (PrEP) drug in each method of administration, at least one preferred post-exposure (PEP) drug treatment regimen.
No prior authorization, step therapy, copayment or deductible will be required.
