Market Operations
On Dec. 5, 2024, Governing Council approved changes to publication of monetary portfolio data under the Pandemic Emergency Purchase Program (PEPP).
Due to discontinuation of re-investments under PEPP at end of 2024, there will be no bonds purchased by Eurosystem under either asset purchase program (APP) or PEPP.
Changes will ensure level of transparency provided by data issued going forward stays appropriate, publication of primary/secondary market breakdown for PEPP's private sector programs will be discontinued to align practices with recent changes re APP.
PEPP data will be issued once a month instead of every 2 months, to match equivalent APP data, and historical monthly data for series since start of program will be issued.
PEPP and APP publication regimes will be further aligned going forward, with publication of both backward and forward-looking redemption data for the PEPP.
All changes to be implemented from Jan. 8, 2025, updated PEPP FAQ will be published.
Advice on Legislation
On Dec. 6, 2024, Governing Council adopted Opinion CON/2024/39 on the obligation to accept cash payments at the request of the Dutch Minister of Finance.
ECB Banking Supervision
On Dec. 11, 2024, Governing Council agreed to proposal to publish a report on the supervision of less significant institutions (LSIs) in 2024, report examines structural features of LSI sector, its key developments and major supervisory activities.
