  • CZC CB announced compliance with guidelines amending EBA/2021/02 under art 17 and18.4 AMLD on customer due diligence and AML/CT risk factors.
  • Factors credit and financial entities should consider when assessing AML/CFT risks of individual business relationships and occasional transactions (EBA/GL/2024/01).
  • Follows EBA an.2024 issued report extending AML/CFT guidelines to CASPs #174603.
  • Overview
  • The guidelines update and expand EBA/GL/2021/02 to include risk factors to be taken into account by crypto-asset service providers when establishing business relationships or carrying out transactions in crypto-assets.
  • In particular, they relate to measures for identification and control of the client and specific risk factors associated with crypto-assets (e.g. elements of anonymity).
  • Further, they also revise procedures for credit and financial institutions whose clients are service providers with crypto-assets from non-EU countries, not covered by MiCA.
  • Effectiveness
  • The guidelines will apply from Dec. 30, 2024, which is also the date to which CZC CB will proceed when performing supervision in accordance with them.
