On Jun. 12, MAC GVT issued report on trade union law consultation.
MAC GVT published the final report on the public consultation of the trade union law.
Consultation on trade union law was conducted from Oct. 31 to Dec. 14, 2021, and a total of 2,653 responses consisting of 24,537 comments/suggestions were collected.
Summary report of the consultation is published and available on the MAC GVT portal.
Dec. 2022 Discussions Concluded
On Dec. 30, 2022, MAC GVT reported the executive council has concluded discussions on trade union law, which will be submitted to the MAC PRL for consideration.
The proposed law includes the purposes of trade unions, establishment of regulations on registration and constitution of trade unions and trade union federations.
As well as the definition of rights and duties of trade unions, the right of workers to organize and join trade unions, and establishment of transitional provisions.
Apr. 11, 2024 Voting Result
On Apr. 11, 2024, MAC PRL published the revisedTrade union bill dated Mar. 28, 2024.
Apr. 22, 2024 Gazette
On Apr. 22, 2024, MAC GVT said bill passed and Trade union law published in gazette.
Articles 8 to 12, 46, 50 to 52 of the Trade union law will be effective Jan. 1, 2025.
The rest of the law will be effective from Mar. 31, 2025.
Aug. 2024 Implementation Rules
On Aug. 5, 2024, MAC GVT published Trade union law implementation rules in gazette.
Outline procedures for registration and deregistration of trade unions and federations.
Detail the notification processes for appointing positions within these organizations.
Procedures for exemptions allowing officials to hold employee status; establish how to amend registration items such as organizational charters; regulate procedures for joining or withdrawing from international groups, organizing or participating in events.
Describe the process for the Labor Affairs Bureau to issue certificates; specify registration arrangements during the transition period; effective from Mar. 31, 2025.
