PAK FBR Single Portal Return Sales Tax


On Apr. 7, PAK FBR signed MoU on single portal/return for sales tax.


  • PAK FBR and all the four provincial revenue authorities signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a single sales tax return and single web portal.

  • Special assistant to prime minister on revenue Dr. Waqar Masood Khan said that the signing of the document was another step towards making FBR fully automated.
  • Will help in improving the country’s position on the ease of doing business index.
  • Persons associated with businesses would only have to file one sales tax return instead of many; this step would help bring simplification in tax system and procedures.
  • Oct. 2024 User Acceptance Test
  • On Oct. 3, 2024, PAK FBR said user acceptance test (UAT) for single sales tax return (SSTR) has been successfully completed, SSTR would be rolled out for other sectors.
  • Dec. 2024 Scope Expansion
  • On Dec. 6, 2024, PAK FBR, all provincial revenue authorities agreed to extend the single sales tax return (SSTR) to E&P (oil & gas) companies and microfinance banks.
  • Taxpayers in these two sectors are required to file their sales tax returns under the SSTR framework starting from the tax period of Nov. 2024, due in Dec. 2024.
