On Apr. 7, PAK FBR signed MoU on single portal/return for sales tax.
PAK FBR and all the four provincial revenue authorities signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a single sales tax return and single web portal.

Single Portal
Special assistant to prime minister on revenue Dr. Waqar Masood Khan said that the signing of the document was another step towards making FBR fully automated.
Will help in improving the country’s position on the ease of doing business index.
Persons associated with businesses would only have to file one sales tax return instead of many; this step would help bring simplification in tax system and procedures.
Oct. 2024 User Acceptance Test
On Oct. 3, 2024, PAK FBR said user acceptance test (UAT) for single sales tax return (SSTR) has been successfully completed, SSTR would be rolled out for other sectors.
Dec. 2024 Scope Expansion
On Dec. 6, 2024, PAK FBR, all provincial revenue authorities agreed to extend the single sales tax return (SSTR) to E&P (oil & gas) companies and microfinance banks.
Taxpayers in these two sectors are required to file their sales tax returns under the SSTR framework starting from the tax period of Nov. 2024, due in Dec. 2024.
