Bill Provisions
Require, for unemployment compensation disability benefits, issue of initial payment for benefits 14 days of receipt of claimant’s properly completed first disability claim.
Would apply same initial payment issuance schedule to the paid family leave program.
Repeal requirement eligible workers receive benefits generally in accordance with law.
Under State disability insurance and paid family leave programs, first claim must be filed by 41st consecutive day after first compensable day claim made for benefits.
Authorized to initiate claims process up to 30 days before first compensable day.
Make changes operative when changes are incorporated in Employment Development Department’s (EDD) integrated claims management system, part of EDDNext project.
