BEL GVT Insurers' Labor Agreement


On Sep. 3, BEL GVT made binding agreement re workers availability.


  • BEL GVT published Royal Decree of Aug. 12, 2024, declaring generally binding the collective labor agreement of Nov. 22, 2023, concluded in the joint committee for the insurance industry, concerning the exemption from the obligation of adjusted availability 2023 and 2024.
  • Purpose
  • The collective labor agreement applies to employers and employees of companies that fall under the Joint Committee for the Insurance Industry and it is limited in time.
  • Establishment of conditions for granting exemption from the obligation of adapted availability for older workers who are dismissed under an unemployment scheme.
  • Who have worked for 20 years in a night work scheme, who have worked in a heavy occupation or were employed in the construction sector and are incapacitated for work.
  • Who were employed in a heavy occupation and demonstrate 35 years of professional experience or who have a long career; they can be exempted from adapted availability.
  • Under the condition that they were dismissed by Dec. 31, 2024, they have reached the age of 60 or over by Dec. 31, 2024 at the time of the end of the employment contract.
  • Or if they have reached the age of 62 or can prove 42 years of professional experience.
  • Effectiveness
  • The collective labor agreement applies from Jul. 1, 2023 until Dec. 31, 2024.
