  • Funds Colorado Youth Corps Association (CYCA) and Department of Corrections State Wildland Inmate Fire Teams (DOC SWIFT), to conduct wildfire mitigation projects.
  • Also, fund mitigation and forestry training to educate and support the future workforce
  • COSWAP created after 2020 fire season by governor and COL LEG, addresses urgent need to reduce wildfire risk in COL through workforce development and projects.
  • Since 2021, COSWAP funded 73 workforce development projects, totaling $10.3mn.
  • Grants available for projects located within identified strategic focus areas, which include: Boulder, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, La Plata, and Teller counties.
  • DOC SWIFT crews operate out of Four mile correctional facility in Canon City and can support projects within 3 hour drive; wildfire mitigation trainings available Statewide.

  • First round reviews for CYCA accredited conservation corps projects due Oct. 9, 2024.
  • Deadline to submit applications is Nov. 1, 2024; applications to be notified by Dec. 31.
