UK ESNZ issued update on the Energy savings opportunity scheme (ESOS), and announced that the Manage your energy savings opportunity scheme (MESOS) system was now available for registration by Phase 3 user and organizational accounts.
Follows UK GVT Jul. 2022, issued plans to bolster UK energy security, see #142751.
Background
ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organizations that meet the qualification criteria, with the Environment Agency the UK scheme administrator.
Applies to large UK undertakings and their corporate groups, mainly businesses but can also apply to not-for-profit bodies and large other non-public sector undertakings.
Organizations that qualify for ESOS must conduct assessments every 4 years - these are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport.
The ESOS audit aims to identify measures for businesses to save energy/make carbon and cost savings, with recommendations estimated to outweigh costs of the audits.
Firms meeting ESOS large undertaking definition on Dec. 31, 2022 qualify for phase 3.
Corporate groups qualify if at least one UK group member meets this ESOS definition.
