WAS LEG approved Bill HB 2097 to add a new section to Chapter 49 of Revised Code of Washington, WAS LEG 49-49.48, on assisting workers in recovering wages owed.
Recovery of Wages Owed
A work group will be established from the Department of Labor and Industries to work towards the recovery of wages owed when employer has violated Ch. 49 or Wage act.
Group will establish procedures, mechanisms, wage recovery program or fund to ensure timely relief, and must include representatives from advocacy organizations.
Staff support will be given to the work group as needed, group may also consult with representatives from other organizations/experts specializing in the subject matter.
Work group must report recommendations to appropriate committees by Dec. 1, 2025.
