WAS LEG enacted HB 1901, removing the sunset on changes to the unemployment insurance voluntary contribution program and amending WAS LEG 50.29.026.

Bill Provisions
Makes the expansion of eligibility for the unemployment insurance voluntary contribution program permanent, rather than allowing sunset on May 31, 2026.
Unemployment insurance provides partial wage replacement for unemployed workers.
In 2021 program access was expanded by enacting temporary changes to eligibility.
Bill HB 1901 now makes those temporary eligibility changes permanent criteria.
Gives qualifications of employers to participate in unemployment insurance program.
The surcharge on payments to the unemployment insurance program is eliminated.
