BRZ INS reported policies must have a field for individual's social name, which is the designation individual uses for self, based on their personality and gender identity.
Social Name Requirements
Social name field to be used when name in official records does not match identity.
By a circular letter, BRZ INS set a 120-day deadline for the adoption of the field.
After the deadline, all proposals, policies, certificates, bonds and other contractual documents issued to customers must contain the field for the inclusion of social name.
Intent of the change is to ensure that people have documents reflecting their gender identity, avoiding embarrassment and potential discriminatory situations.
Effectiveness
Compliance date of May 30, 2024 is 120 days after January 31, 2024.
