On Apr. 29, UK GVT issued amendments to export control regulations.
UK GVT published the Export control (amendment) regulations 2025 (StIn 2025/532) amending Export control order 2008 (StIn 2008/3231) and assimilated Reg 428/2009.
Follows UK GVT Mar. 2024 published amendments to export control law, see #204309.
Amendments
Provisions in Part 6 of the 2008 order amended relating to offenses and penalties.
Increase maximum level of fine that may be imposed for certain offenses on summary conviction from level 3 on standard scale (currently £1k) to level 4 (currently £2.5k).
Implement changes agreed at international export control regimes, mainly Wassenaar Arrangement but also Australia Group, Nuclear Suppliers Group and Missile Technology Control Regime; UK participates in regimes and aligns export control lists with them.
2025 regs make changes to list of items subject to export controls in 2008 order and assimilated dual-use reg, adopting domestic drafting preferences as appropriate.
Also makes admin amendments to national controls on specific emerging technologies which the UK implemented in Apr. 2024 along with a number of like-minded countries.
