On Apr. 29, GA INS issued directive on post-traumatic stress disorder.

  • GA INS issued Directive 25-EX-2 in order to implement the Ashley Wilson act (AWA).
  • Code of Georgia, GA INS 45-25-1 through -7 requires entities to provide and keep sufficient coverage for 1st responders to ensure access to treatment, disability benefits
  • Applies to covered post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) conditions due to trauma.

  • AWA requires INS Commissioner submit an annual report on use of benefits no later than Jul. 1, 2025, and annually, and as such, needs carriers to submit certain data.
  • Coverage includes lump-sum critical illness insurance and disability income insurance covering employee or volunteer first responders working/affiliated with a public entity.
  • Carriers must include name, title, e-mail, phone number of contact person responsible for the data submission, company name, NAIC code, cover letter, data call template.

  • Carriers subject to request must submit the information to GA INS by May 15, 2025.
