GA INS issued a declaration of intent to establish the GA access State-based exchange (SBE) and transition off of the Federally-facilitated exchange (FFE) for plan year 2024.
Follows the introduction of SB 65 on GA INS insurance exchange authorities, #172081.
SBE Transition
Substantial investments made to the GA access model to transition off of FFE for 2023.
GA access aims to improve consumer experience while incentivizing private market.
State developed policies, operations, and technology necessary to complete transition.
Appointed GA INS commissioner general, John King, as point of contact for transition.
Authorized King, or his appointee, to bind the State and attest to complying with the requirements of the SBE and sign and submit the exchange blueprint application.
Aug. 2024 GA INS GA Access Approved
On Aug. 14, 2024, GA INS reported that the CMS confirmed approval for Georgia to transition to a State-based Exchange (SBE), otherwise known as Georgia Access.
Georgia Access to go live as the official health insurance marketplace on Nov. 1, 2024.
