  • Mar. 28, 2025 Corrigenda
  • On Mar. 28, 2025, EU CNCL issued a corrigendum to Dec (CFSP) 2024/1510 amending Dec 2013/255/CFSP, as well as a corrigendum to Reg 2024/1517 implementing Reg 36/2012, concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria.
  • Amends entry table entry 190, on page 14, Annex for individual Hussein Arnous.

On May 28, EU CNCL renewed measures and humanitarian exemption.

  • EU CNCL announced it has extended EU restrictive measures against the Syrian regime and its supporters, in view of the gravity of the deteriorating situation in Syria.
  • Also decided to remove five deceased persons and one other individual from the list.
  • Follows EU CNCL Feb. 2023 waived humanitarian aid restriction, see #164237.
  • Restrictive Measures
  • Restrictive measures currently in place target a total of 316 persons and 86 entities.
  • Those designated are subject to an asset freeze, and EU citizens and companies are forbidden from making funds available to them; additionally subject to a travel ban, which prevents them from entering or transiting through EU territories.
  • Humanitarian Exemption
  • Decision to extend application of humanitarian exemption re Feb. 2023 due to gravity of humanitarian crisis in Syria, exacerbated by earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria.
  • Timely delivery of humanitarian assistance/other activities to support basic human need, increase consistency across EU restrictive measures, those adopted at UN level.

  • Issued Council Dec (CFSP) 2024/1496 and Dec (CFSP) 2024/1510 of May 27, 2024 amending Dec 2013/255/CFSP re restrictive measures in view of Syria situation.
  • Also issued the Council Reg 2024/1497 of May 27, 2024 amending Reg 36/2012 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria.
  • Plus, Council Implementing Reg 2024/1517 of May 27, 2024 implementing Reg 36/2012 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria.

  • The restrictive measures are extended until Jun. 1, 2025.
