NY LEG enacted AB 1029C/SB 7551A which prohibited public access to sealed criminal and civil proceeding convictions and specified provisions for employer requests.
Permitted entities to request unsealed records for purposes of employment if entity is required by federal law or by rules or regulations of a self-regulatory organization.
Noted convictions sealed would not automatically prohibit applicant from employment.
Unsealed records from civil actions may not be introduced for purposes to allege any negligence against an employer, contract/mortgage/loan provider named in the record.
