Reached conclusion that the means to address the threat to national security is to continue discussions and joint actions with the EU and extend the tariff-rate quota.
USTR Statement
USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai released a statement on the two proclamations.
Stated hat by extending EU's steel and aluminum TRQs for two years, US can continue negotiations while providing predictability and stability to steel and aluminum workers.
Effectiveness
Modifications made by proclamations are effective with respect to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on/after Jan. 1, 2024.
Imports from EU member countries admitted into US foreign trade zone in privileged foreign status shall be subject upon entry made on or after Jan. 1, 2024, to the provisions of the tariff-rate quota in effect at the time of the entry for consumption.
