On Aug. 31, CSA NVS, regulators extend exemptions on trailer ban.
CSA NVS, CSA OSC, CSA ALB and CSA BC extend the local blanket order, which provides temporary exemptions from the order-execution-only (OEO) trailer ban.
Issued notice of board approval of CSA OSC Rule 81-509, which is an extension to Ontario Instrument 81-508 on temporary OEO trailer ban exemptions, see #132610.
OEO Trailer Ban
Regulators issued an extension of local blanket orders for temporary exemptions from order-execution-only trailer ban, which initially took effect on Jun. 1, 2022.
Exemptions provided from the OEO trailer ban to facilitate dealer rebates, commissions to clients holding mutual funds in OEO dealer accounts and process client transfers.
Blanket orders from Manitoba Securities Commission, Ontario Securities Commission and Autorité des marchés financiers that expire on Nov. 30, 2023, will be extended.
In Ontario, the extended local blanket order will expire on May 31, 2025.
Aug. 2023 CSA Que Order Extension
On Aug. 31, 2023, CSA Que extended beyond Nov. 30 exemptions to ease transition to trailing commission prohibition, along with the other provinces' securities regulators.
The CSA Que did not provide a new specific expiration date, but will expire Nov. 30th.
