On Oct. 5, SK Tax guided on VAT filing/payment and related tax support.
SK Tax said companies subject to VAT must file a return and pay the tax based on their business performance for the period from Jul. 1 to Sep. 30, 2026, by Oct. 26, 2026.
Guidance on VAT Filing/Payment
Firms can file VAT using the pre-filed service, which pre-fills sales and purchase tax amounts on Hometax, and can now edit purchase details directly on the filing screen.
Individual taxpayers subject to general taxation and small companies do not need to file an interim return but need to pay the interim tax amount assessed by SK Tax.
The amount equals half of the tax paid for the immediately preceding tax period.
If sales revenue or tax payable for Jul. 1 to Sep. 30, 2026 falls below 1/3 of that of the preceding tax period or if taxpayers qualify for an early tax refund, they may file an interim return, and upon filing, the interim assessed tax amount is cancelled.
Due to a concentration of holidays in early Oct., the payment deadline has been uniformly extended to Nov. 2, 2026.
Tax Support
The deadline for filing/paying interim tax returns will be extended by two months for businesses in heavy rain-affected areas including Andong, Uiseong, Geoje, Tongyeong.
As well as small businesses facing difficulties due to the prolonged rehabilitation proceedings of Homeplus.
If eligible taxpayers including SMEs apply for an early VAT refund by the filing deadline, refund will be paid by Nov. 4, six days ahead of the statutory deadline of Nov. 10.
Freight transport operators can now file their VAT returns more quickly and conveniently by registering their business-related credit cards on Hometax.
Future Plans
SK Tax plans to provide necessary information in an accessible manner and thoroughly verify filed data, while also offering robust support to businesses facing difficulties.
