MS INS Strengthen MS Homes Program

MS INS Secretary of State filed an administrative procedure notice to revise the Strengthen Mississippi Homes program.
Amends program to conform to the provisions of SB 2409, 2026 regular session.
Amends Mississippi Administrative Code - Title 19 - MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE (MS INS 19-5-7-7.01, MS INS 19-5-7-7.03, MS INS 19-5-7-7.04, MS INS 19-5-7-7.05, MS INS 19-5-7-7.06, MS INS 19-5-7-7.07, MS INS 19-5-7-7.09).
Also amends MS INS 19-5-7-7.12.
Follows MS LEG approved bill on the Strengthen Mississippi Homes program, #295682.
Rule Amendments
Establishes a comprehensive mitigation program for retrofitting insurable homes, renames Mississippi Comprehensive Hurricane Damage Mitigation Program.
Adds hurricane, tornado, hail, or other catastrophic windstorm event mitigation.
Provides that operational reports must be submitted to the governor and legislature.
Financial grants offered limited to $10k per home, subject to appropriation.
Effectiveness
The proposed final effective date of the amended regulations is Oct. 31, 2026.
