Rule Provisions
Trainees who submit an application postmarked on or after Jan. 1, 2026, shall be required to meet the 2026 Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) educational criteria.
Must have 15 hours in national uniform standards of professional appraisal practice.
30 hours of basic appraisal principles and 30 hours of basic appraisal procedures.
8 hours of valuation bias and fair housing laws and regulations for a total of 83 hours.
Licenses or certificates issued to trainees valid for 10 years from the date of issuance.
Holder of a license or certificate as a trainee may request on an annual basis, a 1 year extension in writing and for just cause at least 30 days prior to the expiration date.
Effective Jan. 1, 2026, licenses/certificates issued to trainees will expire on Jun. 30 of even-numbered years; trainee may only renew license for a total of 5 renewal cycles.
Trainees holding a certificate or license prior to Jan. 1, 2026, will receive a new license or certificate with Jun. 30, 2026, expiration date and will have to renew going forward.
Provided renewal instructions; trainees must maintain evidence of course completion.

On Jun. 17, 2024, MO INS proposed to amend MO LEG 20-2245-5.020 to add a real estate appraiser trainee license fee of $25 and removed redundant language.
Comments on proposed amendments must be submitted in 30 days, Jul. 17, 2024.
