On Mar. 26, NLD SAE consulted on new bill on men and women's pay.
Employers must take action to ensure that men and women are paid equally, which is stated in a new Bill that Minister Eddy van Hijum of NLD SAE is now consulting online.
Consultation Basis
Bill is the result of directive from the EC on greater transparency about remuneration.
On Jun. 7, 2023, the European Wage Transparency Directive entered into force and member States of the EU must incorporate directive's measures into own legislation.
With the legislation, employers must, for example, ensure objective wage structures and become more open about salary and wage differences within their organization.
There will also be a ban on asking about last salary in discussions about employment conditions, and employers with over 100 employees must report periodically on wages.
This should contribute to a better position of employees because they will gain more insight into their own possible wage differences across employees, among other things.
NLD SAE will work with social partners in the coming period on information and tools for employers to use, to support all the employers in meeting the new obligations.
Effectiveness
People can respond to the content of the new legislation through until May 7, 2025.
