White House approved Kansas disaster declaration for areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, flooding that occurred from Apr. 25 to Apr. 30, 2024.
KNS LEG and FEMA also reported that FEMA approved disaster declaration request.
SBA announced that assistance was available to private nonprofits for affected areas.
FEMA Assistance
Federal assistance is available to supplement State, tribal, and local recovery efforts.
Funding available on a cost-sharing basis for counties of Allen, Anderson, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Elk, Greenwood, Linn, Morris, Neosho, Pottawatomie, Wilson.
Funding also available on cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures Statewide.
SBA Assistance
SBA may lend private nonprofits up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets.
Additionally, SBA can lend additional funds to help with the cost of improvements to protect, prevent, or minimize disaster damage from occurring in the future.
Economic injury disaster loans (EIDLs) are available to private nonprofits due to severe weather to pay debts, payroll, and other bills that cannot be paid due to the disaster.
Economic injury aid available regardless if nonprofit suffered any property damage.

Deadline to apply for property damage is Sep. 13, 2024, and for EIDL, Apr. 15, 2025.

On Jul. 29, 2024, SBA amended the disaster declaration for Kansas severe storms.
Loans are available to certain private nonprofit organizations in Woodson County impacted by the storms that provide essential services of a governmental nature.
The loans are available in Allen, Anderson, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Elk, Greenwood, Linn, Morris, Neosho, Pottawatomie, Wilson and Woodson counties.
Deadline to apply for property damage is Sep. 13, 2024; for EIDLs it is Apr. 15, 2025.

On Jul. 31, 2024, SBA published disaster declaration for public assistance only for KNS.
Aid for private non-profits that provide essential services of a governmental nature.
Primary counties adversely affected, eligible for aid include Allen, Anderson, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho,, Pottawatomie, and Wilson counties.
Deadline to apply for property damage is Sep. 13, 2024; for EIDLs it is Apr. 15, 2025.
Aug. 2024 SBA Fed Reg Amendment 1
On Aug. 5, 2024, SBA published a federal register notice of Amendment 1 to the presidential declaration of disaster for the State of Kansas of Jul. 15, 2024.
Declaration is amended to add Woodson County to the primary eligible counties.
All other information in the original disaster declaration remains unchanged.

Sep. 12, 2024 SBA Rural Disaster Aid
On Sep. 12, 2024, SBA offered rural disaster assistance after Sep. 10 declaration.
Declaration due to impact of Apr. 25 to Apr. 30 severe weather and tornadoes.
SBA assistance to rural and non-rural areas in Allen, Bourbon, Linn counties in Kansas.
For small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofits , SBA offers EIDLs to help meet working capital needs.

Disaster loans up to $500,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace.
Homeowners, renters eligible for $100,000 to repair or replace personal property.
The SBA is authorized to lend additional funds to help with the cost of improvements to protect, prevent or minimize disaster damage from occurring in the future.
Deadline for property damage is Nov. 12, 2024; for EIDLs deadline is Jun. 11, 2025.
