COL INS reported virtual stakeholder meeting on Nov. 7, 2024, to discuss the implementation of bill HB 24-1149, Prior authorization requirements alternatives.
Follows Jun. 2024 COL LEG legislation on prior authorization of benefits, #212593.
Implementation
HB 24-1149 makes several changes to prior authorization requirements for certain health care services and prescription drug benefits beginning in Jan. 2026.
COL INS is required to issue rules related to carriers public disclosure of prior authorization data on approvals, denials, public disclosure of exemptions, alternatives.
COL INS will release a draft regulation prior to the meeting and will invite feedback from participants on the regulation and the format of the required data submissions.
