Eligibility
The primary counties that are eligible for aid are Berkeley and Orangeburg; the adjacent counties of Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon.
Also, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Lexington and Williamsburg in South Carolina.
Assistance Available
Businesses and private nonprofits may borrow up to $2mn to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed real estate, equipment, inventory and other business assets.
Small businesses, small agricultural cooperative and small businesses engaged in aquaculture, most private nonprofits, the SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans.
EIDLs assist businesses in meeting working capital needs caused by the disaster.; it is not necessary for the business to have suffered physical property damage in the event.
Loans up to $500k are available to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate.
Homeowners, renters are eligible for loans up to $100k for damaged personal property
Applicants may be eligible for a loan amount increase of up to 20% of their physical damages, as verified by the Small Business Administration for mitigation purposes.
Eligible mitigation improvements may include a safe room or storm shelter, sump pump, French drain or retaining wall to help protect property and occupants in future.
Deadline
The deadline to file physical property damage applications is Nov. 18, 2024.
Deadline to return applications for Economic injury disaster loans is Jun. 18, 2025.
