Standard
NOR Standard for Industry Classification (SN) is primarily intended for use in official Norwegian statistics; main purpose is to provide rules and guidelines for industry classification and unambiguous definitions of enterprises.
Introduction of a new Standard for Industry Classification affects how statistics are produced/presented; affects businesses registered in Unit Register to varying degrees.
New standard may also affect businesses that use industry codes for various purposes.
Introduction of SN2025 does not lead to a change in industry code for all businesses in because many industry codes continue as they are in the current standard (SN2007).
Effectiveness
New standard will be issued in Sep. 1, 2025; from this date all businesses will have an industry code according to the revised standard (SN2025); SN2025 will apply from Jan. 1, 2025 in statistics produced from 2026 onwards.
