  • ARK LEG approved Bill HB 1400 to amend Arkansas code ARK LEG 26-37-302(a) (payment required) and add section new subsection (e) related to disabled veterans.

  • To redeem a tax-delinquent parcel with county collector, redeemer/purchaser must pay outstanding delinquent taxes, and 10% simple interest, penalty per delinquent year.
  • Defined disabled veteran, and noted that disabled veterans not subject to foregoing 10% penalty when redeeming a tax-delinquent parcel owned by disabled veteran.
  • Penalty exemption applies only if the veteran submits a letter that meets the requirements stated in ARK LEG 26-3-306(b)(1)(A) to Commissioner of State Lands.
  • Must meet all other requirements to redeem the parcel under ARK LEG 26-37-310.
