On Mar. 24, LUX ABBL will launch a new universal payment slip.
LUX ABBL will introduce a a new version of the universal payment slip (TUP).
Purpose
Despite e-banking's rise, Luxembourg has 1.2 mn TUP-based transfer orders annually.
Pre-filled data and a familiar format make it a preferred option, particularly for those less comfortable with online banking; the updated format has better-structured data.
Starting Oct. 9, users will also have the option to indicate whether their transaction should be treated as an instant payment, depending on their bank’s capabilities.
Retail clients will receive the new TUP slips from their bank/payment service provider.
Corporate clients, public institutions and organisations should seek LUX ABBL guide.
Effectiveness
From Jun. 2, 2025, the new ISO 20022-compliant TUP slips will be introduced and used alongside the current formats (1 & 2); the short version (3) will not be supported.
From Jan. 1, 2026 only the new TUP format (1) will be accepted.
