Unlawful to make, create, or furnish any consumer/credit report with any adverse data the consumer reporting agency knows/should know relates to consumer medical debt.
Illegal to conduct a collection action against the consumer to collect medical debt.
Also, to maintain in file on consumer any information relating to medical debt incurred by a consumer or a collection action against the consumer to collect medical debt.
Definition of medical debt does not include debt charged to a credit card or an open-end or close-end extension of credit made by a financial institution to a borrower.
Unless extension of credit may be used solely for purpose of health care services.
