On Jun. 20, LTH PRL amended the law on consumer protection.
LTH PRL published Law XIV-2749 of Jun. 13, 2024, amending art 40 of the Law I-657 on the protection of consumer rights, and supplementing the law with art 6-1.
Main Points
The amended law defines consumer rights, determines the institutional system of consumer rights protection, the competence of consumer rights protection institutions.
Regulates consumer education, the relationship between consumers and sellers, service providers, the procedure for the protection of consumer rights outside of court.
And the responsibility for legal acts regulating consumers rights protection, violations.
Law XIV-2749 added art 6-1 on rules re the extrajudicial recovery of debts arising from consumer contracts including procedure and content of notification sent to consumers.
Art 40 provides for rules on liability for violations of national and European legislation about the protection of consumer rights; its amendment updates the legal provisions.
Effectiveness
The law enters into force on Nov. 12, 2024; it applies to extrajudicial collection of debts from consumer contracts that arose after the date of entry into force of this law.
