  • On Oct. 17, 2024, SBA reported low-interest federal disaster loans are now available to Alaska businesses and residents as a result of flooding that occurred Aug. 5 to 6, 2024
  • Businesses of all sizes and private nonprofits may borrow up to $2mn to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery, equipment and inventory.
  • Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are available for small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, private nonprofits.
  • EIDLs help meet working capital needs caused by disaster regardless of any damage.
  • On Oct. 15, 2024, it was announced that funds for the Disaster Loan Program have been fully expended; no new loans can be issued until Congress appropriates funds.
  • Applications will continue to be accepted and processed to ensure individuals and businesses are prepared to receive assistance once funding becomes available.
  • Nov. 2024 FEMA Disaster Unemployment Assistance
  • On Nov. 15, 2024, FEMA reported workers and self-employed individuals within the City, Borough of Juneau may qualify for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA).
  • If unemployed as a direct result of the flooding that occurred on Aug. 5-6, 2024.
  • Applications for DUA must be submitted no later than Monday, Dec. 16, 2024.
