On Aug. 22, SBA made disaster aid available to certain nonprofits.
SBA reported that it has made federal disaster assistance available to Texas private nonprofit organizations that provide essential services of a governmental nature.
Assistance has been made available under federal disaster declaration for public assistance as a result of Hurricane Beryl that occurred Jul. 5-9, 2024, see #218873.
Eligibility
These low-interest federal loans are available in Austin, Brazoria, Colorado, Harris, Jasper, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, San Jacinto and Wharton counties of Texas.
SBA may lend private nonprofits up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets.
Agency can also lend additional funds to help with the cost of improvements to protect, prevent or minimize disaster damage from occurring in the future.
For certain private nonprofit organizations of any size, SBA offers Economic injury disaster loans (EIDLs) to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.
EIDLs may be used to pay debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that cannot be paid because of the disaster’s impact and are available regardless of any damage.
Application Deadline
Deadline to apply for property damage is Oct. 21, 2024; EIDL deadline, May 21, 2025.
Aug. 2024 SBA Fed Reg Disaster
On Aug. 28, 2024, SBA published a notice of presidential declaration of a major disaster for public assistance only for the State of Texas in the federal register.
Number assigned for physical damage is 205688 and for EIDLs is 205690.
Sep. 2024 SBA Amendment 2
On Sep. 23, 2024, SBA published amendment no. 2 to the disaster declaration for public assistance, to include Chambers county as adversely affected by the disaster.
