On Jul. 26, WV LEG governor declared state of emergency statewide.
WV LEG Governor Justice declared state of emergency for all 55 counties in West Virginia due to dangerous drought conditions, activating Emergency Operations Plan.
Governor instructed personnel and resources to be ready to respond to emergencies, and granted specific administrative powers to state Emergency Management Division.
Provides authority to ensure essential emergency services are provided efficiently.
Effectiveness
State of Emergency will remain in effect for 30 days unless terminated earlier.
Aug. 13, 2024 SBA Economic Injury Disaster Aid
On Aug. 13, 2024, SBA reported that Economic injury disaster loans (EIDLs) are available in WV for small businesses, aquaculture firms, coops, and most nonprofits.
EIDLs are available for entities with economic losses due to drought starting Jul. 16.
Declaration includes primary counties of Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker in West Virginia.
Adjacent counties Barbour, Greenbrier, Preston, Upshur, Webster in West Virginia.
Also adjacent counties in MD Allegany, Garrett, and Washington; and VA Augusta, Bath, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Loudoun, Rockingham, and Shenandoah.
Loans may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that could have been paid by the impacted businesses had the disaster not occurred.
Applications for EIDL loans must be submitted to SBA no later than Mar. 31, 2025.
