  • Unlike other procedural regulations, Federal Constitutional Court Act (BVerfGG) does not provide for procedural-related electronic communication in constitutional court.
  • Electronic legal transactions in constitutional court proceedings will enable secure, legally effective digital document exchange between citizens, authorities and courts.
  • Once Federal Constitutional Court is integrated into electronic legal transactions, proceedings documents can be legally submitted, delivered and sent electronically.
  • The Federal Constitutional Court also intends to implement digital file management.
  • Enters into force Aug. 1, 2024, subject to paragraphs 2 and 3; article 1(3) is in force on the day following promulgation; and article 2 shall enter into force on Jan. 1, 2026.

  • The law enters into force on Aug. 1, 2024.
