Fees Regulations
Regulations made under s133 of Customer and product data act 2025 require payment of fees on application for accreditation as accredited requestor and for renewal of that accreditation.
Application fees are NZD 2k for class of accreditation involving acting as intermediary to make requests, and NZD 1.5k for class involving making requests other than when acting as intermediary.
Renewal fees are NZD 1.7k for class of accreditation involving acting as intermediary to make requests, and NZD 1k for class involving making requests other than when acting as intermediary.
If application made for 2 or more classes of accreditation, applicant only required to pay 1 fee, whichever applicable fee is greater; fees exclusive of goods and services tax.
Levies Regulations
Regulations prescribe classes of specified persons required to pay levy under s135 of Customer and product data act 2025, provide different levies for different classes, and provide for payment and collection.
Three classes created: class 1 comprises accredited requestors applying for renewal if existing accreditation expires 1 year after grant or most recent renewal.
Class 2 comprises accredited requestors if existing accreditation expires any date other than 1 year after grant or most recent renewal; class 3 comprises data holders as defined in s6 of the act.
Person included in class 3 and in either class 1 or 2 not required to pay levies for each class, but must pay 1 levy amount; person in class 2 must notify chief executive of total gross annual revenue by Jun. 20 each financial year.
Levy purpose is to fund costs of chief executive in performing or exercising functions, powers, and duties under act, and costs of collecting levy money.
Effectiveness
Both regulations are effective from Dec. 1, 2025.
