The communication describes the updated IDD mapping effective from Jun. 30, 2025.
Context
In 2023, introduced IDD activity mapping as monitoring tool to ensure compliance with IDD rules of conduct; to have clear overview of insurance distribution activity in BEL by BEL insurance companies, branches of foreign insurance companies established in BEL.
The mapping also allows the BEL FSMA carry out risk-based monitoring.
Analysis of data for 2022, 2023 calendar years revealed inconsistencies in responses.
Overview
Technical changes and clarifications made to mapping to better define responses to be obtained and to facilitate compilation and analysis of the data received.
New questions also added (on direct distribution and face-to-face distribution).
Per numbering discrepancy between questions in 2023 communication, specifically in Appendix 2, survey questions that companies complete via FiMIS application updated.
From now on, companies with specific exclusive activity (reinsurer, large risks, captive) must confirm each year, do not then need to answer other questions, can close survey.

Services actually provided in Belgium during period under review are understood to mean services provided by the company directly and/or via its distribution network.

Updated IDD mapping applicable from 2025 for activities in 2024 calendar year.
Reporting will be carried out via FiMiS survey web application, operation of application is described in FiMiS for Cartography User Guide, available on BEL FSMA website.
Effectiveness
BEL FSMA expects insurance companies to submit reports covering activities in 2024 by Jun. 30, 2025, at the latest; annual reporting is subject to BEL FSMA regulations.
