Follows Apr. 2023, AST GVT issued related section 3C determinations, see #134831.
Allied Health Services
The Health insurance (section 3C general medical services - allied health services) determination 2024 comes in force in accordance with section 2 on Mar. 1, 2024.
Repeals and remakes the sunsetting 2014 determination to ensure that medicare benefits continue to be payable for such services performed by those practitioners.
Remake incorporates administrative amendments and changes re budgetary measures.
Telehealth
The Health insurance (section 3C general medical services - telehealth and telephone attendances) amendment (no. 1) determination 2024 comes into force on various dates, linked with the allied health determination above, and fully by Mar. 1, 2024.
Makes minor amendments to the 2021 telehealth determination, adds schedule items.
Effectiveness
These determinations come into force fully on Mar. 1, 2024.
Feb. 1, 2024 Cleft and Craniofacial Services
On Feb. 1, 2024, AST GVT registered the Health insurance (section 3C general medical services - cleft and craniofacial services) determination 2024, in force on Mar. 1, 2024.
Repeals and remakes the equivalent 2020 determination to implement medicare benefits review recommendations and to modernize clinical practice re such conditions.
It addresses issues identified after registration of Health insurance (section 3C general medical services - allied health services) determination 2024 (principal determination).
AST GVT published explanatory statement regarding the amendment determination.
Amendment determination in force Mar. 1, immediately after principal determination.
It also amends the Health insurance (section 3C midwife and nurse practitioner services) determination 2022, and the Health insurance (section 3C general medical services – telehealth and telephone attendances) determination 2021.
Applies annual medicare benefits schedule (MBS) fee indexation to the relevant determinations, adds schedule items and makes minor administrative amendments.
The instrument commences in accordance with section 2, fully on Jul. 1, 2024.
This determination amends Health insurance (section 3C general medical services – telehealth and telephone attendances) determination 2021, see #134717 for details.
Insert six new temporary telehealth items for in-hospital psychiatry services, from Nov. 1, 2024, and will cease on Oct. 31, 2026 unless earlier revoked.
